Eating You Up

I just wanted to share this
 little (and slightly alarming)
 discovery in the garden…

At first glance, they look beautiful—
tiny, bright red insects
clustered all over a single plant.

 I think they might be
a kind of red milkweed beetle,
 though I’m not entirely sure.

What I am sure about
is how quickly they take over.

They’re notorious for
 devouring everything—
flowers, leaves…
basically whatever they land on.

And the funny thing?
 These aren’t even milkweed plants!

One moment your garden
looks perfectly fine…
the next, it’s covered in red.

I honestly have no idea
where they come from.

They just seem to appear
out of nowhere.

Nature can be fascinating…
and a little destructive too.
