What Makes a Government?

The sight of these purple blue flowers
led me to the Provincial Capitol of Cebu City.

I've passed by this building a few times
but never really bothered to drop by until today...

It was almost closing time though
so the guard just let me in for a quick peek.

When I looked up at the dome, this was the first word I saw.

oh a lot of things can be said about the Philippines' Justice System
but I have hope for a better future.

If there's Justice, Equality must follow...
I am just as optimistic about this as well.

If people will work together towards clean and good governance,
there's no doubt that this country would be among the best in the world...

where every one can stand proud of being a Filipino...

Just as the first Filipino hero, Lapu-Lapu,
(who apparently was not originally a local)
who fought against the Spaniards
(which led to the death of Ferdinand Magellan in 1521)

we must always be on our guard on the kind of government that we are creating...

in school, we were taught that
the government is something that is
of the people,
by the people,
and
for the people...

so who are "The People"?

"Where flowers bloom...
so does hope."

Silence on a Holy Saturday

He who waits on the Word of God in silence,
is answered
not so much by a word
that bursts into his silence.

It is by his silence itself...
suddenly...
inexplicably revealing itself to him
 as a
Word of Great Power...
full
of the
Voice of God...

~ Dialogues with Silence, Thomas Merton
